ACTIVITIES

Annual Report 2023

In the fiscal year 2023, the movement restrictions in place due to the spread of the novel coronavirus have for the most part been lifted, and projects, events, etc. that have been hosted online until now have returned to their prior form of being held in-person. Actually, if you take a look at the activities list for the current fiscal year it is clear that professors' opportunities for exhibitions, events, external collaborative activities, and the in-person implementation of academic and research conferences has been increasing. The three “community collaboration / industry-academia-government collaboration activities,” “cultural activities,” and “PR / information archiving activities” that the Research Center for Industrial Culture (RCIC) hosts were primarily implemented in-person.
The “IAMAS ARTIST FILE #09 ‘Methodicist Art: Rules, Interpretations, Body in Question’” which was held and linked with the “Gifu Ogaki Biennale 2023 <方法/ Method>” became the representative “cultural activity” of the year.
As for “community collaboration / industry-academia-government collaboration activities,” we collaboratively worked on 3 areas of research. Research was held concerning the design of a learning environment that uses learning resources made in collaboration with the Gifu-Kakamigahara Air and Space Museum. There was also research held about the use of AR educational contents as part of the museum's expansion of educational activities and the application of XR technologies in the museum. Additionally, whilst performing practical research concerning a “Media Lab” for outdoor use at the “Minna no Mori Gifu Media Cosmos” through Gifu-shi (Minna no Mori Media Cosmos) and the citizens workshop, there was also the design of media expressions that utilized experience-based learning with Ogaki-shi. Furthermore, we continued on with the hosting of the “IAMAS Kodomo Daigaku” from the previous fiscal year. In these ways we were able to plan the expansion of the published objectives for this fiscal year regarding collaborative research and community collaboration.
As for the “PR and information archiving activities,” we worked on the renewal of the IAMAS website. On the other hand, concerning the exhibition activities we had some struggles in selecting exhibition venues. If compared to the previous fiscal year, there are still some problems that remain which need to be addressed. In the next fiscal year and onwards, we are considering searching for a new display PR that uses an audio guide application “Onsei AR” which is currently in development in our collaborative research.
